Prohibition sign - red circle and bar
No smoking signs
Print a no smoking sign for a door, wall, window or vehicle in minutes. The set covers twelve versions, including a Scotland notice with a complaints line and a Northern Ireland version with the exact legal wording: the classic red circle and bar over a cigarette, "No smoking or vaping", a separate no vaping sign, "No smoking in this vehicle", a friendly "Thank you for not smoking", and text-only red and mono signs. Every one comes in A5, A4 and A3, portrait and landscape, except the Scotland and Northern Ireland notices, which are A4 and A3, portrait only. The legal requirements for a smoke-free sign differ in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland; the FAQ below sets out each one.

Questions
Is a printed sign enough to meet the law on smokefree premises?
It depends where you are. England requires at least one legible no-smoking sign. Wales requires at least one sign showing the no-smoking symbol. Scotland requires at least one notice of 230 x 160 mm or larger with an 85 mm no-smoking symbol, the name of the person complaints can be made to and a statement that a complaint can be made. Northern Ireland requires a sign of at least A5 at each public entrance, with a 75 mm symbol and the words "No smoking. It is against the law to smoke in these premises". A symbol-only sign is allowed at some internal and staff-only entrances in Northern Ireland, where another entrance has the full sign. Use the Scotland notice (A4 and A3, with the complaints line filled in) or the Northern Ireland notice (A4 and A3 portrait only, so the printed sign face meets the 148 x 210 mm minimum) from this set for those nations; the general signs that show the no-smoking symbol suit England and Wales, and the text-only signs suit England only. Sources: SI 2012/1536 (England), SI 2020/1211 (Wales), SSI 2006/90 (Scotland), SR 2007/134 (Northern Ireland) on legislation.gov.uk.
Do I need a separate sign for vaping?
A no smoking sign does not mention vaping. If you want to ban vaping too, use the "No smoking or vaping" or "No vaping" version.
Can I put a sign in a work vehicle?
Yes - there is a vehicle version. In England, some work vehicles, and enclosed private vehicles carrying anyone under 18, must be smoke-free. Rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, so check the rules for your case.
What size should I print?
A5 for a car or small door, A4 for most doors and walls, and A3 for large entrances where people need to see it from further away.
